Team Member’s Roles:

Luke’s Role: 

Luke was more or less the “hands-on” guy for this project.  Taking the research performed by his sister Jackie, he was able to assemble a rather crude, yet fully functional prototype that accomplishes the exact task seeded from a five hour phone conversation only a couple months prior.  Luke also helped out with various portions of the paper as well as assembled the website you are currently viewing.  Apparently he also has a knack for writing in third person!

Jackie’s Role: 

Jackie performed most of the research required to complete our project.  She researched everything from the alternator wiring diagram during our prototype construction, to the issue of climate change in general, and why alternate energy sources are crucial to solving this epidemic our generation will have to combat – she more or less wrote the majority of our paper.  Jackie also came up with the perfect name for our project, which is explained in detail at the bottom of this page. 

Larry Stookey’s Role: 

When first getting started on this project, we ran into a few tight spots.  More or less, we couldn’t get our car alternator to produce a single watt of power.  Yet our research clearly showed that this should not have been the case.  After having a few conversations with our former high school Physics/Chemistry instructor, Larry Stookey, we were able to clear up this conflicting theoretical vs. practical issue, and found out that the root cause of our problem had to do with the fact that alternators need to be “jump started” – due to the absence of a permanent magnet.  (See our technical detail page for more information). 

The Green Rabbit Name: 

After reviewing our work, many of you might be asking, “Why Green Rabbit?”  Well, the answer is simple.  Lets just say that once given the time and resources, we hope to improve our prototype’s efficiency – taking it from being the rough Rube Goldberg like machine that it appears to be now and transforming it into a beautiful state-of-the-art “Green Rabbit” (in other words – a fast, free-spirited, healthy, clean, and proud Energy Star approved piece of exercise equipment that any fitness center would be honored to own).
