Who are we?
Green Rabbit was founded by Luke and Jackie Artymiuk on behalf of the Climate Leadership Challenge (CLC) hosted by the University of Wisconsin - Madison. The goal of the CLC is to promote university attendees to think outside the box and attempt to come up with something (whether that be a product, service, or government policy) to help mitigate climate change. After coming up with an idea, participants are then required to write out on paper exactly how they intend to get their idea out into use by the general public within a year. The most action-ready idea is then awarded a one year lease at Research Park in Madison and allocated $50,000 to help turn their idea into reality!
What is our “idea”?
The general concept behind our idea is fairly simple and takes you all the way back to your typical high school physics course. When studying a section on electricity, physics instructors often have little experiments for their students to perform. One of them that stuck out in our minds was taking a small hand crank generator, and spinning it fast enough to make a small light bulb light up. Keeping this idea in the back of our minds, we realized that this very concept has some great potential to it – the trick; however, was figuring out exactly what one could do with it, and this is precisely what our Green Rabbit Project is all about.
To find out exactly what we have done, you’ll have to take charge of your browser, and start exploring our site. You’ll find a great collection of photos, descriptions and even some video footage of our project in action!
